Very decorative 19th century Venetian mirror, circa 1880, with re-entrant upper corners and curved top. The layered frame has a central panel decorated with flowers and leaves set between narrow bevelled frames decorated with scallop cut edges and a central row of etched bubbles. Each section of the frame is held in place with glass leaves and there are acanthus leaves either side of the outer corners at the base of the mirror. A magnificent, high, cartouche of curling acanthus leaves, each side of a central oval etched with flowers and leaves, runs along the top of the mirror ending in more curled acanthus leaves at each top corner. There is a little age in the frame pieces and light freckling in the original, bevelled, central glass but this magnificent mirror still gives an excellent reflection.
