Antique French mirror, circa 1840, with burnished watergilt undulating frame. Where the frame has been dusted for almost 200 years, the gold leaf has thinned revealing the warm, dark terracotta bole beneath the gilding. The gold leaf continues around the outside edge of the mirror and the original mercury glass is in good condition with just a little age. This mirror can be hung portrait (as photographed) or landscape.
