Early 19th century French pier mirror with wide, gilt, reeded frame. Where this mirror has been cleaned for over 200 years, the gilding has thinned revealing the terracotta bole beneath. This is particularly noticeable along the bottom edge, probably where it was easier to reach! The original mercury glass is in two sections but both pieces are in very good condition with just a little age around the outside edges, air bubbles and sparkles. This mirror would work just as well in a contemporary or a traditional setting as the style of the frame is timeless.
