Classic antique French oval mirror, circa 1850, with outcurving watergilt frame decorated with a narrow row of beading along the sight edge (edge closest to the glass). Where the mirror has been dusted for more than a century and a half, the gilding has thinned revealing the warm, dark terracotta tones beneath the gold leaf. The mercury glass has a little light age but gives an excellent reflection. A simply handsome mirror that would look good in many different spaces.
