Rectangular, 19th century, French mirror, circa 1870s, with narrow, undulating, burnished watergilt frame. Where the mirror has been cleaned for more than 100 years, the gold leaf has thinned a little revealing the terracotta bole and cream gesso beneath which gives this mirror a warm colour. The original, glass has medium age and still gives a good reflection. This attractive and unusual mirror can be hung portrait, as photographed, or landscape.
