Antique French arched mirror, circa 1880, with narrow watergilt frame, the gilding on which extends around the outside edges. A narrow row of beading runs along the sight edge (edge closest to the glass) and the mirror is topped with a delicate, elegant cartouche of acanthus leaves and flowers. This mirror was almost certainly used as an overmantel as the gilding has thinned along the bottom edge, revealing the terracotta bole beneath. This section of the mirror would have been within reach of an enthusiastic maid with a duster! The original glass is in very good condition with just a little light age and gives an excellent reflection.
