Large, rectangular, French antique Restauration period mirror (1815-30) with cream gesso frame decorated with raised, intricate, symmetrical designs of rosettes, acanthus leaves, curling stems and berries and an overlapping leaf sight edge in stone coloured gesso with hints of gold leaf remaining. This mirror would have been set within the panelling in an important room of a large French house and has a narrow wooden border runing along the back. This border and the outside edges still have the original pale yellow ochre paint. The mirror plate is the original mercury glass and is in excellent condition and this mirror can be hung portrait (as photographed) or landscape.
