Tall, narrow, early 19th century French panel mirror with watergilt reeded frame. Where this mirror has been dusted for more than 200 years, the gilding has thinned a little revealing the terracotta bole beneath and showing the narrow, slightly brighter gold bands where each sheet of gold leaf slightly overlapped. The original mercury glass is in very good condition with noticeable sparkles at the top and base of the mirror. Hung portrait, as photographed, this mirror would make an excellent full-length mirror but it could also be hung landscape.
