Tall 19th century French archtop mirror, circa 1840, with narrow frame. Originally watergilt, after more than 150 years of cleaning, the gilding has thinned revealing pale terracotta and cream gesso beneath. The original, mercury glass has some age, especially towards the top left, but this is away from the central area and it still gives a very good reflection and sparkles beautifully when it catches the light. This mirror would work well as a full-length mirror.
