18th century French panel mirror with distressed stone/white painted background and superbly carved giltwood frame surrounding the original mirror plate. The frame is a mixture of curved acanthus leaves with little carved flowers tucked amongst them with an unusual raised decoration midway along the bottom edge. The original mercury glass has age and distress in the form of droplets running from top to bottom but nevertheless gives a good reflection. This mirror would make an excellent, and unsual, overmantel.
