Early 19th century antique French mirror with delicate, dark gilt, palm leaf frame. An encircled acanthus leaf cartouche decorates the top with curved sprays of palm leaves falling over the glass while ribbon-tied sprays of crossed palm leaves decorate the base. The original mercury glass has a little age around the outer edges but this mirror gives an excellent reflection and sparkles when it catches the light. This mirror would make an very elegant overmantel, working well in both traditional and contemporary settings. It has been fitted with supporting "legs" to prevent damage to the lower edge and these should be removed when the mirror is hung.
