Very large, decorative, Italian, overmantel mirror, with undulating upper frame overlaid with beautifully carved, curling, acanthus leaves and high cartouche of leaves and flowers. The mirror glass is divided into sections framed with a husk design and the outer frame is an incurving acanthus leaf with an extra pediment along the bottom edge. The original glass has unusual age and foxing. Bought at auction in Rome and described as an early 19th century mirror made in Venice.
