19th century English mirror with very delicate, beautifully modelled frame in the style of an 18th century giltwood mirror. The narrow horizontal sections of the frame are formed of curling acanthus leaves with a central crest and the vertical sections are decorated with delicate columns with asymetric and angled tops and little serpentine sprays of flowers and leaves. The original gilding has thinned and darkened over the years and the original glass has light age but still gives a good reflection. This mirror would make a very elegant overmantel where height is restricted.
