Late 19th century ebonised Chinoisery box with curved lid. The box is decorated with oval and circular panels of Chinese scenes with figures, buildings and trees and each side of the central decoration on the lid is a wonderfully curled dragon in clouds. All around the edges of the box is a frieze of leaves and stems and all the gilt decoration is a mixture of dark and light coloured gold. The inside of the box is plain black laquer. The condition of the box shows light wear and the lid fits well.
