Antique French watergilt oval mirror

Lovely, classic, antique, French, watergilt oval mirror with a narrow raised, outcurving band along the outer and inner edges of the frame and a wider raised outcurving band along the centre of the mirror frame. Where the gilding has thinned through years of dusting, the red clay bole beneath is showing through as well as the brighter lines of gold where the gold leaf sheets overlapped.  The mirror plate has a hint of age and gives an excellent reflection.
