Late 19th century French oval mirror with black and silver frame which has a band of raised, scrolling acanthus leaves set between two narrow, recessed bands of burnished silver leaf. Closer to the mirror plate there is another raised band of half ovals and another flat, burnished silver band runs along the sight edge. Where the silver leaf has thinned after more than a century of dusting, the black bole is showing through mostly in the form of delicate lines. The mirror plate has a small horizontal line of age spots but nevertheless gives an excellent reflection.
