19th century French mirror with incurved cream gesso frame with delicate and intricate raised Empire period decoration between burnished gilt edges and overlapping acanthus leaf sight edge (edge closest to the glass). The 19th century mirror plate has some age, in the form of dark dots, mainly towards the base of the mirror. This mirror can be hung portrait (as photographed) or landscape. This mirror had been heavily overpainted and the removal of this paint results in the attractive cream and gold frame you see now.
