19th century French mirror (circa 1860) with narrow, watergilt, ropetwist frame. Where the mirror has been dusted for well over 100 years, the gilding has thinned a little on the raised edges of the twist, revealing the terracotta bole beneath which shows the ropetwist design well. The original glass has a little light age and wear but gives an excellent reflection. This lovely, simple mirror can be hung portrait, as photographed, or landscape.
