Very large antique, continental, Florentine style mirror, circa 1880, with reflexed giltwood frame of palm leaves, curled acanthus leaves and flowers, topped with a fanned acanthus leaf cartouche. After more than 100 years of dusting, the gilding has thinned a little in places revealing the dark terracotta bole beneath giving the frame a warm colour. The original, bevelled glass has just a very little age and gives an excellent reflection. A magnificent statement-piece mirror.
