19th century pair of antique French oval mirrors, circa 1870, with wide, partly outcurving frames decorated with a flower and leaf etching. The frames have a ribbon twist outer edge and a row of delicate beading runs around the sight edge (edge closest to the glass). They are also gilded along the outer side so the mirrors look beautifully finished side-on. After many years of dusting, the terracotta bole is gently showing through the gilding in places, giving the frames a very attractive warm colour. The mirror plates are from the same period and are in very good condition having just a little light age and giving an excellent reflection.
