Magnificent, antique, French archtop mirror circa 1840, with simple, ourcurving, burnished watergilt frame. Where the mirror has been dusted for almost 200 years, the gilding has thinned a little, revealing the terracotta bole beneath and also the brighter lines of gold where the individual gold leaves overlapped. The gilding runs along the outside edges so this mirror looks just as good from the side. The original mercury glass is in very good condition, gives an excellent reflection and sparkles along the bottom edge.
