Decorative corner watergilt mirror

19th century French mirror with narrow, watergilt frame and swept corners consisting of curled acanthus leaves with central floral and foliate decoration. Where this mirror has been cleaned for over 150 years, the watergilding has thinned revealing the terracotta and cream layers beneath. The original mercury glass has a little light age but still gives a good reflection and this mirror can be hung portrait (as photographed) or landscape.
