19th century French rectangular mirror with classic, gilt, ropetwist frame. Where the frame has been cleaned for over 100 years, the gilding has thinned around the sight edge revealing the terracotta bole and cream gesso beneath. The original glass has a little, very light, age and this elegant mirror can be hung portrait (as photographed) or landscape. (The horizontal line which appears across the glass is a reflection of the wall opposite.)
