Magnificent antique English oval mirror with scrolling cartouche

Very large, mid-19th century English oval mirror with layered, outcurving frame decorated with a raised central band of beaded, burnished ropetwist, alternating with a delicate leaf motif. The outside edge has alternating beading and husk decoration and the sight edge (edge closest to the glass) has a delicate overlapping acanthus leaf pattern. The mirror is topped by a scrolling, open acanthus leaf cartouche either side of a shield shaped central decoration. The original mercury glass mirror plate is in very good condition with just a little age and sparkles when it catches the light. This mirror gives an excellent reflection and is a classic statement piece for any large room.
